Overview and Services

The best prevention of breast cancer is early detection. Approximately 1 in 8 women in the Unites States will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of their lifetime. In 2014, an estimated 232,670 new cases of invasive breast cancer were diagnosed in women in the United States along with 62,570 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer. The newly designed Altus Women’s Center is changing the way that the women and men of Baytown receive lifesaving breast cancer screenings and diagnostics procedures. The Altus Women’s Center is conveniently located on the Altus Hospital campus adjacent to the Altus Cancer Center and will offer 3D mammography. This imaging technique is designed to separate the tissue and reduce the overlapping of structures, which has long been a limiting factor in standard 2D mammography. 3D mammography has 20-30% more accuracy than 2D mammography and reduces false positive interpretations by about 20%. Staffed with Breast Imaging Specialists and highly qualified Mammography and Ultrasound Technologists, this new center will provide high-quality, patient-centered care for women and men.
