Lung Cancer Screening Program

For both men and women, lung cancer remains the number-one cancer killer in the U.S., topping deaths from prostate, breast, pancreatic and colon cancer combined. However, lung cancer is treatable and potentially curable when diagnosed in its early stages.

Until recently there were no effective tools to screen people at higher risk of lung cancer, but now the physicians at Altus Cancer Center are able to provide the best technology available for early detection with CT lung screening. This method has been shown to detect cancers not visible on chest x-rays and more than 80% of lung cancers detected with a CT have been in the earliest stages with a high probability of cure. The latest research shows that CT lung screenings can save lives, which is why many experts believe it should be a standard procedure for patients who are at high risk.

Are you at risk for lung cancer? Should you consider a lung screening?

Because screening is such a vital element of early detection of lung cancer, Altus Cancer Center offers a CT lung screening program for high risk individuals. Eligibility requirements must be met prior to screening.

If you answered yes to both of the last two questions, you may be a candidate for a low-cost
CT lung cancer screening.

  • Are you between the ages of 55 – 74?
  • Are you a current smoker or a former smoker who quit within the past 15 years?
  • Did you smoke one pack per day for 30 years or two packs per day for 15 years (the number of packs per day times the number of years smoked should be 30 or above)?
