Altus Imaging Centers are unique multi-modality radiology facilities that offer the advanced diagnostic services of cutting-edge imaging technology. Our Beaumont and Houston centers feature a breakthrough in radiology services: the Stand-Up™ MRI. This multi-positional, weight-bearing “open” MRI scanner offers a non-claustrophobic design and flexible range of motion. As a result, we are able to produce excellent images while providing our patients with maximum comfort.

We also use one of the first multi-slice system CT scanners in the world, allowing our radiologists to view images on three different planes: left to right, front to back, and top to bottom. This technology enables our highly-experienced staff to deliver scanned readings with laser-sharp precision, resulting in a more accurate diagnosis.

Altus Imaging Centers have been accredited by The Joint Commission, recognized nationally as the Gold Seal of Approval in ambulatory health care. We seek accreditation because we want to demonstrate our commitment to our patients’ safety and quality of care. Our accreditation is another step toward achieving excellence.

Altus Imaging Centers aim to provide patients with optimal treatment solutions in a calming, positive environment. MRI

Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) produces detailed images of soft tissues inside the human body through the use of noninvasive magnetic fields and radio waves. Our innovative MRI scanners in Beaumont and Houston feature an open, non-claustrophobic design that allows patients a full-range of motion and an unobstructed view of the room and even the opportunity to watch TV. Patients can walk in, stand or sit for the scan, and walk out. This technology provides both a level of comfort for our patients and the advanced readings necessary to assure high quality diagnostic evaluations.

High-Field MRI Scanner

High-Field MRI Scanner

EXCITE technology from GE Medical Systems is one of the most significant advancements in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in more than a decade. EXCITE is a comprehensive redesign of the MRI data pipeline, which comprises the data transmission, reception and processing technologies that create MRI images and features a 1.5 T magnet superior to any other MRI in the Baytown market. EXCITE delivers more detailed information about the patient’s condition while making the diagnostic experience more patient-friendly.

According to leading MRI practitioners, EXCITE’s ability to improve data acquisition and management is resulting in:

  • Shorter exam times
  • Improved image quality
  • Higher patient throughput
  • Increased image solution
  • 40% higher signal-to-noise

Stand Up MRI Scanner

Stand Up MRI Scanner

We’re proud to provide MRI services that are remarkably different—services that respond to patients’ unique concerns and needs, while delivering images with exceptional clarity.

The Stand Up MRI Scanner has weight-bearing capabilities that can scan patients in the upright position and uses gravity to recreate the exact point of pain where symptoms occur. We are able to capture images that clearly reflect pathology, undetectable by conventional scans. Oversized patients, weighing up to 500 lbs and who are unable to be scanned in regular MRI scanners, can now benefit from the medical analysis provided through an MRI.

With enhanced imagery software development and the dedication of our experienced radiologists, Altus Imaging Centers can provide highly advanced scanned readings with an assured precision for quality diagnostic evaluations. Anatomical abnormalities are clearly identified and analyzed through our processes. A detailed report, complete with images and measurements, is then sent to the referring physician to help successfully elucidate, evaluate and treat your injuries.

At Altus, we strive to make MRI scanning a safe, relaxing experience for our patients
while providing clarity for each medical disorder.

Patient Handling System

  • Translation function advances the upright or recumbent patient into center of the magnet
  • Elevator function places standing patient’s anatomy of interest at magnet isocenter
  • Tilt function rotates the patient from upright to the recumbent position
  • Table slightly tilted at 5 degrees to stabilize patients during upright scanning
  • Support fixtures for RF receiver coils integrated into the table
  • Motorized and computer-controlled
  • Fully MRI-compatible

Patient Comfort

  • The only true Open MRI
  • The most non-claustrophobic whole-body Open MRI
  • Walk in, stand or sit for the scan, walk out
  • Removable seat
  • An unobstructed view of the scanner room from inside the magnet
  • Enhances patient comfort and stability during multi-positional scans
  • Whisper Gradients™ for quiet scans

Position MRI™ (pMRI™)

  • Weight-bearing studies of the human anatomy
  • Unrestricted range-of-motion for flexion, extension, rotation and lateral bending
  • Brain scans with the patient upright (vertical)
  • Assists in detecting clinically significant pathology

Magnet

  • 0.6 Tesla field strength
  • Iron frame electromagnet
  • Front-open and top-open magnet design
  • Magnetic poles are on the left and right of the patient

CT Services

CT Services

At Houston and Beaumont Clarus Imaging Centers, our CT scanner is the GE Lightspeed QX/i, which is the world’s first multi-slice scanner and the current leader in imaging technology. At our Baytown Center, our CT scanner is the GE Discovery ST.

In a CT scanning process, the patient lies on a bed, with the body part under examination placed at the opening of the scanner. The scanner then takes pictures of the body without touching the patient, as the bed moves slowly backwards and forwards. The length of the test depends on the number of pictures and the different angles taken. For certain procedures, a liquid x-ray dye may need to be injected into the veins for a better view of organs or blood vessels in the processed readings.

PET/CT Services

PET/CT Services

Positron Emission Tomography and Computed Tomography (PET/CT) images can provide important information about many conditions affecting the heart, brain and other organs, which will help your doctor plan an appropriate treatment for you. PET/CT images are different than those obtained with conventional X-ray, CT, Ultrasound or MRI. While PET shows the function of the body and the organs, or how they work, CT shows the structures of the body, or how the organs look.
